PASSAIC MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT,AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONTACT ANDENDANGERING THE WELF

Paterson NJ - Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces the arrest of Luis Castillo-Galindo, 58 years old, from Passaic, New Jersey. Mr. Castillo-Galindo was arrested in Dallas, Texas on August 12, 2021 after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.


Mr. Castillo-Galindo is charged with one count of second degree Sexual Assault, two counts of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and one count of third degree Aggravated

Criminal Sexual Contact.


On April 20, 2021, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report of two children, a 15- year-old and a 13-year-old, who disclosed being sexual assaulted by Mr. Castillo-Galindo when they

were 13 to 14 and 11 to 12 respectively.


The children disclosed being assaulted by Mr. CastilloGalindo at their residence in Passaic. During the investigation, Prosecutor’s Office detectives interviewed both victims and multiple witnesses resulting in Mr. Castillo-Galindo’s arrest.


The sentencing exposure on second degree Sexual Assault is five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% of the sentence to be served before parole eligibility pursuant to the No Early Release Act; on second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is five to ten years in New

Jersey State Prison; and on third degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact it is three to five years in New Jersey State Prison. If convicted, Mr. Castillo-Galindo will be subject to Parole Supervision

for Life and Megan’s Law registration requirements.


The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion for pretrial detention and is asking that Mr. Castillo-Galindo be detained in the Passaic County Jail pending the resolution of the case.


The detention motion will be scheduled before a Superior Court Judge next week.


A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite the accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
