Fatal Fire on 9th Street Claims Life of Father and Son, North Arlington

North Arlington, NJ - an early morning house fire on 9th Street claims the life of a 75-year-old man and his 44-year-old son. A 66-year-old woman was rescued from the 2nd floor and transported to an area hospital by EMS.


Firefighters from Kearny, Lyndhurst, and Rutherford assisted at the scene.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the North Arlington Police Department are investigating a fatal house fire at 1 Ninth Street in North Arlington, NJ. At 4:16 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, the North Arlington Police Department received a report of a house fire from one of the occupants of a single-family home at 1 Ninth Street. Two individuals were located in the residence and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Another individual was located in the residence and transported to a local hospital. The victims have been identified as 75-year-old Safwat Saad and 44-year-old Maged Saad.


An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the North Arlington Police Department under the direction of Chief Scott Hedenberg. No other information is available at this time.
